Mrs. McDonald is a sister to Lloyd L. Stuart of Springville and Mrs. Clifford W. (Jennie) Beardal of Provo. Burial will be in Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Tomorrow's forecast is for partly cloudy skies with slight chance of snow flurries.. Iljorth Otis Hjorth dies of causes incident to age Otis A. Hjorth, 87, of 1438 S. Main St., died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1976 at the Utah Valley Hospital of causes incident to age. He was born Dec. 4, 1888 in Clinton, Utah County, a son of August A. and Huldah Terry Hjorth. He married Velma Miner on Feb. 17, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Hjorth had been engaged in farming and for many years he worked as a carpenter. He was active in the LDS Church, serving in the bishopric in In-dianola. In-dianola. He had been a teacher in the auxiliaries, on the genealogy committee, and an ordinance worker in the Manti LDS Temple from 1961 to 1965. He filled a mission for the LDS Church in California in 1954 to 1955. Mr. Hjorth attended a one-room one-room school house in Clinton while living in Indianola. When he was nine years old, the family moved to Mammoth in Juab County, where there were only six Mormon boys enrolled in school. The teacher told the boys to stay home and not come back to school, so their first Primary teacher took them into her home and taught them school subjects. He moved to Fairview where he graduated from eighth grade, then studied commercial bookkeeping at Snow Academy partUme between 1906 and 1910 From 1910-11 he attended LDS Business College, then received an appointment from the railway mail service in 1914. He married in 1915 and lived at Indianola for ten years on a dry farm homesteaded by his father. He later moved to Springville so his children could attend school. He worked 25 years as a carpenter car-penter at Wright Planing Mill. Surviving are his widow, three sons and three daughters, Hugh Hjorth and Carlos Hjorth, both of Mapleton; Mrs. James F. He was born Feb. 26, 1898 in Eureka, the son of William Henry and Emeretta Monk Nebeker. He married Gwen Gardner, June 16, 1920 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1962. He married Manilla Moultan. They were divorced. He married Cornelia Yuditsky, Oct. 20, 1966. Mr. Neveker was a former resident of Los Angeles, where he was employed by the Los Angeles Transit Company. He moved to Spanish Fork, and was employed by Utah Idaho Sugar Co. Mr. Nebeker moved to Springville where he was an electrician for Springville City prior to his retirement. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter, Leon Gene Nebeker, Costa Mesa, Harmer Nebeker Hjorth, both of Springville; Mrs. Richard R. (Anna Marie) Pexton, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Edwin T. (Florice) Thomas, Orem; 34 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Funeral was Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Springville First-12th LDS Ward Chapel, with Bishop R. Dean Rowley of the Springville Second LDS Ward officiating. Caine burial here Julia Alleman Caine, 76, of 470 N. 500 E., Provo, longtime teacher in the Brigham Young University Laboratory Schools, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 1976 in Utah Valley Hospital following a long illness. She was born Feb. 27, 1900 in Springville, a daughter of Charles A. and Hanna D. Hansen Alleman. She married C. Avery Caine on June 25, 1933 in Springville, and the marriage . later was solemized in the . Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Caine attended schools in Springville and graduated from BYU in 1925 as valedictorian of her class. She later received her masters degree from Colorado State Teachers College and taught school in Sevier County, Salt Lake City, and Idaho Falls, Ida., before coming to Provo in 1941 to teach at Brigham Young High School. In 1965, Mrs. Caine was honored on her retirement from BYU, after teaching in Laboratory Schools for 24 years. She later returned on an emeritus basis, the first laboratory school teacher to gain that honor. Her total Calif.; Mrs. Donald Edward (Elva Darlene) Smith of Anaheim, Calif.; nine grandchildren; grand-children; three brothers and one sister; Ellery Nebeker, LaVar Nebeker, Rex Nebeker, and Mrs. Lottie Harding, all of Southern California. Mrs. Robertson was born Feb. 24, 1894 at Mapleton, to Levi Gregory and Margaret Llewellyn Metcalf. She married Hilton A. Robertson June 5, 1912 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. , She attended schools in Springville and spent most of her married life here. She has been active in the LDS Church serving ser-ving in the Kolob Stake Relief Presidency, Primary president, and other offices in the Sunday School. She spent 15 years with her husband in the Oriental missions of the LDS Church, both in China and Japan. She has been a temple worker in the Salt Lake, Provo, and Hawaiian Temples. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Richard H. (Norma) Weiff, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Carolyn R. MacDonald, Anaheim, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Provo First Ward, 200 S. 100 E with Bishop C. Harvey Call conducting. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary in . Provo from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday or one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Springville City Cemetery. teaching career spanned more, than 40 years. A prominent member of the American Association of University Women, she served as local and state president. She was the first educational director of the Utah Economics Workshop for public school teachers. Mrs. Caine was on the commission com-mission which authored the charter for the city manager government of Provo in the 1950's. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women. Active in the LDS Church, she served as president of the YMMIA in stakes in Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls and Provo. Surviving are her husband, Provo; one brother and two sisters, C. Lynn Alleman, Springville; Mrs. Richard E. (Helen) Ajax, Orem; and Mrs. Jack T. (LaRae) Da vies, Provo. Funeral was Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Walker Morturary Chapel, 85 E. 300 S., Provo, under the direction of Bishop D. Eccles Cameron. Interment was at Springville City Cemetery. |
