Show Apiil 17J . j THE SPRINGVILLE (UTAH) HERALD Page Seven County Hair Stylists to Sponsor Benefit Show Here Next Wednesday Hair stylists and beauty op-erators throughout Utah Coun-ty will gather at Springville next Wednesday, April 23, to put on the eighth annual Hair Fashion Benefit Show sponsor-ed by the Utah County Beau-ticians in the Third-Nint- h ward. Time of the show is 8 p.m. "Honey of the Hive," will be the theme and Elaine Innes of Spanish Fork who modeled for the state, will oppear as the Queen Bee in appropriate at-tire. From a gold-colore- d bee-hiv- e, the models will emerge to fea-ture the newest trends in hair styles for this season. Ruth LeeMaster of Provo is chairman of the show and is being assisted by other opera-tors of the county. There will be approximately 150 models including Ruth Per-ri- t of Payson who will repre-sent the state of Utah in the national show in New Orleans. There will also be door prizes galore. Beauty operators have tickets for the event or they may be secured at the door. Camp Spring Creek Meeting at the home of Mrs. Nellie Burt, Camp Spring Creek DUP heard a fine les-son on Wives and Children of the Mormon Battalion present-ed by Lucille Johnson and the annual election of officers was held. Mrs. Agnes Nelson is the new captain; Mrs. LaPriel Friel, and Mrs. Leah Jones, vice presidents; Mrs. Vilate Diamond, secretary-treasure- r; Mrs. Josephine Duncan, regis-trar; Mrs. Veloy Bailey, his-torian; Mrs. Philda Finley, as-sistant historian. The program consisted of two vocal solos by Mrs. Irma Brailsford, accompanied b y Mrs. Mary Whitney; two piano solos by Susan Burt; a song by Kathy Bismark and music and singing by Dick Conover. Concluding the meeting, re-freshments were served by Mrs. Burt, Mrs. Veloy Bailey and Mrs. Nadine Bismark. Camp Koda DUP The home of Mrs. Allean Lo-pez was the meeting plaae for Camp Koda DUP last Thurs-day with Mrs. Sarah Beardall assisting hostess. The ladies enjoyed a pioneer history on the life of Ann Southwell Clark given by a great granddaughter, Mrs. Ida B. Hardy. She told how this lady was converted to the LDS church in 1840 and came to Utah where she was well known for her sewing and as a reader and writer. She was employed by ZCMI when they opesed their store in Sugar House and died at the age of 82. The April DUP lesson was presented by Mrs. Dorothy Brown. The meeting concluded with refreshments. Pretty Reception Honors Couple Now Making Home in Springville Among the lovely wedding receptions of the past week was that of the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Snow, nee Jean Smith, who received warm wishes from were orange and gold stream-ers. Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman of Orem served as matron of honor. Leah Reynolds, Francis Snow, Karen Snow and Carol Ann Smith were bridesmaids. They wore pastel dinner dres-ses and yellow feathered carna-tion corsages carried out the Chosen color srhemp relatives and friends Friday April 11 at a wedding recep-tion hosted in their honor by the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence K. Smith. Assisting in receiving the guests also were the parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Walter D. Snow also of Spring-ville. The reception was held at the Third-Nint- h ward church. The charming diminutive bride ,was striking in a yellow chiffon ankle-lengt- h dress with an orange cumberbund with a sash in the back. Huge baskets of orange car-- ; nations and yellow mums grac-ed the sides of the receiving line and tall candleabras for-med a background for the bri-dal party. The bridal bouquet consisted of a large mum bordered with feathered carnations forming an off-sha- heart from which LeRoy V. Hoffman served as best man for the couple. Receptionists at the door were Jim and Bernice Carne-secc- a of Springville, aunt and uncle of the bride, asd Grant and Belva Thatcher of Provo, aunt and uncle of the groom. Assisting at the registry were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith, brother and sister-in-la- w of the bride. In charge of gift arrange-ments were Mary Carnesecca, Lena DeRose of Springville, Helen Towers of Murray and Marilyn Carnesecca of Spring-ville. Serving refreshments in bright yellow and orange ap-rons were Loreen Spencer, Marie Carnesecca, Marilyn Car-nesecca, Kathy Thatcher, Mari-lyn- n Towers. Gift bearers were Jean Car-nesecca, Susan De Rose, Jo-hanna Perrero, Nanette and Danny Thatcher. The new Mr. and Mrs. Snow are making their home at 528 South Main in Springville. Relatives Attend 93rd Birthday Dinner at Logan Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Felix of this city are going to Logan tomorrow to attend the 93rd birthday anniversary of Mr. Felix's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Felix. The occasion will bring most of her ten living children and their wives and husbands to-gether for a dinner in Logan Canyon. A native of Switzerland, Mrs. Felix came to Utah with her husband and 11 sons and daughters as converts to the church in 1906. They settled in Rexburg, Ida. Her husband died in 1909. Through the years, she has visited many times in Spring-ville with Mr. Felix and his family. She is the mother of 14 sons- - and daughters and num-bers among her descendants 56 grandchildren and 130 great grandchildren. Word comes of the birth of a baby son to Mr. and Mrs. Kent Miner at Cedar City April 3. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alma Miner of this city. The new baby has a sister. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Frandsen and family moved this week to Salt Lake City where he will be employed with the Federa-ted Milk Assn. Aunt Gives Party For Missionary Honoring Howard Weight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight, who is leaving soon on a Spanish-America- n mission, his aunt, Mrs. Earl Condie en-tertained at a family party at her home on Thursday evening last week. A travelogue of New Zealand shown by Howard's brother-in-law- ,' Dean Tew, who served a recent mission in that country, furnished interesting entertain-ment. The time was also spent visiting and with games and the evening concluded with re-freshments. In attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Tew, Mr. and Mrs. Kae Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Prestwich of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry C. Cluff, Barry Weight, Carol Peterson and the guest of honor. The occasion also marked the birthdays of Mrs. Nolan Weight and son Barry. Jeune Mere Club Tours the Art The many fine paintings in the April Art Exhibit were viewed by the Jeune Mere Club while they listened to a talk on the show by Grant Clyde on Wednesday evening of last week. After the tour, the group as-sembled at Bart's for luncheon with Mrs. Lenore Bills and Mrs. Beth Jensen, The project prize was awarded to Mrs. Florence Nielson. Next meeting was announ-ced for April 23 when A. I. Tippetts a former instructor at Snow College and a former leg-islator will speak at the home of Mrs. Orvil Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Harmer and family of Rock Springs, Wyo., were guests of Mr. Har-mer- 's mother, Mrs. Retta Har-mer and other relatives . and friends over the weekend. |
