Show ladies Literary Club Hears Fine Book Review An especially interesting evening even-ing was spent Thursday by members mem-bers of the Ladies Literary Club, when they were entertained at the ho'.ne of Mrs. Rea Straw. Mrs. Harold Christensen gave a review of the book, "Our Unknown Ex-President," which told of the outstanding service of former president Herbert Hoover in relief work in foreign countries and of the place he holds and the respect he cqmmands from the public today. to-day. Mrs. Christensen reviewed' his early life, of his being left an orphan; his education and work as an engineer closing with a tribute to the man, who was not a politian, disliked publicity and has dedicated his life to the service ser-vice of his country without financial finan-cial renumeration. The program also included piano selections by Mrs. Lacelle Sum-sion Sum-sion and short business conducted by Mrs. Wm. L. Schreiner, club president. The meeting opened with the serving of a delicious tray luncheon lunch-eon to club members and Mrs. Nell Matley and Miss Faye Bjarnson of Spanish Fork, special guests. |
