Show FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MAPLETON PIONEER Funeral services were conducted Sunday in . the Mapleton ward chapel for Edgar P. Whiting, veteran vet-eran farmer and prominent church worker, who died Thursday at the family residence of ailments incident inci-dent to his age. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. He was born Dec. 31, 1855, in Manti ,a son of Edgar and Mary Cox Whiting. When seven years of age his family moved to Mapleton, Maple-ton, where he had since resided. He married Harrietta Johnson in 1889 in the Manti temple and she died in 1900. He was an active worker in the L .D. S. church, especially in genealogical gen-ealogical and temple work, and was a high priest at the time of his death. Surviving are two sons and six daughters, James Whiting, Mapleton; Maple-ton; Vern Whiting, Provo; Mrs. Robert Evans and Mrs. Chester Thompson, Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Clarence Holmes and Mrs. Carl Faucett, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Don Bean, Price, and Mrs. T. S. Waters, Wat-ers, St. Johns, Ariz., 35 grandchildren grand-children and three great-grandchildren; a brother, John Whiting of Charleston ,and a sister, Mrs. Abbie Bird of Mapleton. |
