Show G. S, CONDIE SERVICES HELD Many friends and associates joined with relatives Wednesday afternoon to pay tributes of respect re-spect at funeral services for Gibson Gib-son S. Condie, in the Second ward chapel. The services were under direction of the Fourth ward bishopric. bish-opric. Burial was in the Evergreen Ever-green cemetery. Mr. Condie, a Black Hawk Indian In-dian war veteran, prominent church worker and highly respected respect-ed citizen of this community, died Sunday at the home of a daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Lena Maycock, following follow-ing an operation performed ten days previous for a ruptured appendix. ap-pendix. He was ninety years old. Born in Clock Mannon, Scotland, Scot-land, October 29, 1845, Mr. Condie came to this state with his parents, par-ents, Gibson and Cecelia Sharp Condie, in 1850. The family lived in the Sixth L. D. S. ward in Salt Lake City for several years before moving to Springville. Mr. Condie was among the first railroad contractors in this vicinity vicin-ity assisting with construction of many roads throughout the western states. Special tribute was paid him for his part in earlv construction work at a re- cent contractors' convention held in this city. During his later , life he was a successful farmer I and stockman, retiring from these occupations only a few years ago. rHe has been especially active in church work, having served as bishop in the Fourth ward for a number of years and also as a counselor to the bishop of that ward. Mr. Condie enlisted in the Black Hawk war in June 1886 and returned re-turned in September of that year. He had the distinction of being the second oldest Black Hawk veteran vet-eran in the community and was honored at a recent Black Hawk reunion here. He married Elizabeth Hatter-sley Hatter-sley in October, 1866, and later he married Esther Palfreyman, who survives him. He also is survived by 10 sons and daughters, Mrs. Maycock, Mrs. Mae Crandall, Earl and Kenneth Condie of Springville; Mrs. Lillian Lewis, Overton, Nev.; Mrs. Hannah Packard, Provo; Mrs. Melba Osmond, Washington, D. C; Richard Condie, Thomas Condie and Mrs. Ann Davis, Salt Lake City, the latter two by the former marriage. He also has a sister, Mis. Elizabeth Cowcn, Nephi; two brothers.
