Show C.W.HOUTZ DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Christian Watson Houtz, prominent prom-inent citizen of Mapleton, died Wednesday morning at the home of a son, Austin Houtz, of ailments ail-ments incident to his age. He had been ill about a month and was brought from Salt Lake City about a week ago. Born in Springville, April 1, 1S67, he was a son of Phillip and Sarah Jane Hall Houtz. During his residence in Springville, he took an active part in civic and L. D. S. church affairs. He was in the bishopric of the First ward from 1896 to 1807, when he moved mov-ed to Mapleton. In the Mapleton ward he had served as president of the M. I. A., and reld other prominent and responsible positions. posi-tions. He was a member of the high council when the stake was organized in 1924. He married Mary Esther Waters Wa-ters March 2, 1887, in the Logan temple. She died in June, 1935. On January 1, 1938, he married '"vcline Gibbs and had since been 1'ving in Salt Lake City doing L. D. S. temple work. He is survived by his vvidow and the following sons and daughters by the first marriage: Austin and Leslie B. Houtz of Mapleton; Mrs. William T. Tew of Louisville. Ky; 19 grandchildren grandchil-dren ; four great-grandchildren ; seven brothers and sisters: Phillip S. Houtz of Provo; Heber Houtz Mrs. Lettie Beardall, Mrs Peari Coombs of Springville; Elvan Houtz and Mrs. Rose Whitehead of Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs Inza Russon of Lehi. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p. m., in the Maple. ton ward chapel.
