Show GUN TRAGEDY ENDS CAREER 0FS.jY0UTH Strange Actions Precede Death Of Promising School Graduate SPANISH FORK Eyes glazed and apparently out of his mind, Allen Rockhill, 17,, son of Mrs. A. B. Rockhill of Spanish Fork, snuffed out his own life with a .32 caliber revolver at 9:10 o'clock Friday Fri-day night, as his mother and Mrs. Christina Cornaby, a neighbor, attempted to wrest the gun from his hand. Mother AUirmetl "Don't come in here!" Allen Is said to have shouted, when his mother approached the house a few moments earlier. He was seated on a lounge with the gun in his hand. Mrs. Rockhill rushed into the house and attempted to calm him. Failing, she ran to the home of Mia. Cornaby, next door, who went into the room where youny Rockhill Rock-hill was. Mrs. Cornaby snatched at the kliii, but Allen jerked it away, placed the gun at bin temple tem-ple and pulled the trigger. He died a few moments later. The bullet entered his head' at a point near an older bullet wound accidentally inflicted when he was It years old. While hunting with his friends, he was shot and part of this bullet had never been removed. re-moved. This old wound, the fact I hat he had attended a fii't in Spanish Fork and one in Benjamin earlier in the day, and was suffering suffer-ing from the heat, is believed to account for his strange actions before be-fore the shooting. Acts Strangely Earlier in the evening Allen had driven his mother and sister, Mrs. Erma Jausehwit., and a friend, Hazel Erlandson of Payson, for a ride southward from Spanish Fork. He drove so fast and recklessly , that his mother asked to be let out of the car, along with the other two women. Allen continued southward, south-ward, but apparently circled about to the north again by another road ' because when the Rockhills arrived ar-rived home, in another car, he was there and had procured the gun. RockhiU's father, Albert Rockhill, Rock-hill, and an older brother, were killed in an automobile accident on Decoration day of 1916, between American Fork and Pleasant Grove. Death of the young man ends one of the most promising careers in the community. Allen was an honor student at the Spanish Fork high school, from which he graduated grad-uated this year, and intended going to college. He was born in Salt Lake City, December 17, 1915. He is survived by his mother, and the following sisters.: Mrs. Blanche Brown, Logan; Lo-gan; Mrs. Aline Ford, Montana; Mary Rockhill, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Erma Jauschwitz, Paris, France, and Mrs. Lois Eyring, New-York New-York City, N.
