Show MANY ATTEND SERVICES FOR MRS. WHEELER Impressive funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Maria Wheeler, who died suddenly at her home in Springville Saturday afternoon following fol-lowing a two hours illness, were held in the Fourth ward chapel Wednesday afternoon with Bishop S. L. Mendenhall, Jr., in charge. , . The opening prayer was by Leo Robertson of the ward bishopriq, and the speakers were Aaron Mendenhall, Men-denhall, William Tew Jr., and Mrs. Eliza Thorne. Mrs. May . Huntington Hunting-ton read a sketch of Mrs. Wheelers Wheel-ers life, which was composed by Mrs. Wheeler's daughter. Music was furnished by Ralph Weight, who gave a cornet prelude 'Come, Come Ye Saints." He, with William Parry gave an instrumental instrument-al duet. Marjorie Bird and Helen Palfreyman gave a vocal duet. Hannah Roland sang a vocal solo and Freeman Bird and Glen llolley or Mapleton gave a vocal duel. Elmo Coffman sang a vocal solo. Interment was in the Evergreen .cemetery, where .the dedicatory prayer was offered by John H. Manwaring. Mrs. Wheeler was born on a sailing sail-ing vessel, the Ellen Maria, for which she was named, February 8, J852 when her parents, Thomas and Tabitha Child, were on their way to Utah. The family lived in Salt Lake two years then moved to Springville in 18S4 where Mrs. Wheeler has rived since. Mrs. Wheeler has always taken an active part in the community life and in the affairs of the J,. U. S. church. She was a Relief society so-ciety teacher until her death. She is survived by two sons and five daughters: Mrs. J. O. Reynolds, Mrs. A. W. Cherrington, Mrs. Dim-ick Dim-ick Childs, Thomas J. Wheeler and A. Y. Wheeler, all of Springville; Mrs. C. G. Sanford, Paul, Idaho; Mrs. A. B. Olsen. Salt Lake; 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, T. hi. Child, Springville. Another brother, Alma II. Child, died last Wednesday. |
