Show Funeral Services Today, 1 p.m. for Alva Zabrisfde, 75 Km- Alva Zabriskie, well-known former Springviile resident for whom services are being be-ing held here today. Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m., in the Fourth-Tenth ward church for Alva Zabriskie, 75, former Springviile postmaster and city councilman, who died Monday afternoon at the Spanish Fork hospital. Mr. Zabriskie had been making mak-ing his home at Palmyra the past three years, and Bishop Vernon Hansen of the Palmyra ward, will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mr. Zabriskie was born Feb. 1, 1883, at Milburn, Sanpete County, son of George Albert and Annie Christena Zabriskie. He received his education in the Sanpete County schools. He married Mary Brackenridge Sept. 3, 1903, in the Manti LDS Temple. He served as postmaster for 11 years and served a term on the Springville City Council. He was a charter member of the Springville Kiwanis Club. Mr. Zabriskie was also maintenance main-tenance foreman for the State Road Commission at Soldier Summit for nine years and farmed in Milburn for nine years. An active member of the LDS Church he was counselor in the Springville Fourth ward for 14 years, superintendent of the YMMIA and taught in various var-ious auxiliary organizations. He served in the Western States Mission. At the time of his death he was a High Priest in the Palmyra Stake. . Surviving are his wife of Palmyra; three sons and four daughters: George Olin Zabriskie Za-briskie of Honolulu, Hawaii; Howard Zabriskie of Spanish Jork; Mrs. Ray (Merle) Whiting Whit-ing of Ogden; Mrs. Leo (Gwen) Cutler of Springville; Mrs. Frank C. (Lucy) Argyle of Spanish Fork; Mrs. Horace (Lorraine) Clarke of Anaheim, Calif.; and Harry Zabriskie of Midvale. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Zabriskie of Provo, Claude Zabriskie Za-briskie of Salt Lake City and Morley Zabriskie of American Fork and five sisters, Mrs. Wicks Sanderson of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Thomas Robinson of Bakersfield, Calif; Mrs. Charles Graham of Chico, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Seittler of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Merrill Hand of Draper. |
