Show NATIVE UTAHN FETED ON WVBIRTHDAY Guest of honor at a family dinner, din-ner, Mrs. Margaret Llewelyn Met-calf Met-calf observed her eightieth anniversary anni-versary Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. B. D. Palfrey-man Palfrey-man in Provo. She was born September 16, 1860, a daughter of Reece R. and Ann Llewelyn at Fountain Green, Utah, with the distinction of being be-ing the first- white girl born in that city. She was married to Levi Gregory Greg-ory Metcalf January 27, 1881, in the Salt Lake Endowment house and moved to Springville shortly after her marriage, where she has lived most of her life since. She has always been active in church activities" and served as president of the Mapleton Primary Pri-mary for a number of years. Known as an excellent cook, she has always made cooking and fine needlework her hobbies. A beautiful pink and white cake with eighty candles was the central decorative piece on the long table from which 12 guests were served. She is the mother of nine children, child-ren, seven of whom are living. They are Mrs. Hilton Robertson, Springville; Mrs. B. D. Palfrey-man, Palfrey-man, Provo; Mrs. Elvin Houtz, Redlands, Calif.; Lee Metcalf, Modesto, Calif.; Bert Metcalf, Richfield, Idaho, and Frank Metcalf, Met-calf, Springville. She has 42 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Both she and Mr. Metcalf are in excellent health even though both are in their eighties. |
