Show cWr. Lwdw C. dwe-Celebrates dwe-Celebrates birthday MR. AND MRS. J. R. KINDRED ENTERTAINED AT DINNER at their home on Thanksgiving day for members of their family. Covers Cov-ers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Creed Kindred and son, Jerry, of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Bern Kindred of Tooele, Mr. and Mrs. Fifield and daughters, Kaye and Mary Lynn, of Heber City, and Mrs. Geneva Miller of this city. A highlight of the afternoon was a phone call received from Ted Kindred, employed at Lockheed, Calif., and also from Wayne Miller, stationed with the army at San Luis Obispo, Calif., both of whom sent Thanksgiving greetings. MRS. GEORGE WILSON ENTERTAINED FRD3AY $ Mrs. Lucina Clark Vane celebrated cele-brated her 85th birthday on Saturday Sat-urday at her home, -313 South Second Sec-ond West street. She was guest of honor at a family dinner on the Thursday preceding her birthday and also at a dinner on Sunday. She was born in Appanoose county, coun-ty, Iowa, November 22, 1856, a daughter of Hyrum and Nancy Wood Clark. She crossed the plains with her parents by ox-team in 1864 and the family settled in Springville, where Mrs. Vane has since resided. She was married to Joseph H. Vane, June 23, 1881. Mr. Vane died several months ago. Mrs. Vane resides re-sides at her home and is exceedingly exceed-ingly active for her years. She has a daughter and two Sons. Mrs. B. M. Prizes for the games went to Mrs. Bert Child, Mrs. Jim Nichols and Mrs. Casey Christen-sen. Christen-sen. of Spanish Fork, the latter two being guests. Others attending were Mrs. Morris Mor-ris Thorpe, Mrs. Carlyle Ollerton, Mrs. Wilford Mower, Mrs. A. H. Mortensen, Mrs. Verl Child, Mrs. Guy Strong, Mrs. Murray Peay of Provo, and Mrs. Alta Ollerton. The latter two were also special guests. A DINNER WAS GIVEN THURSDAY by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christen-sen Christen-sen at their home, with guests including in-cluding Mr. and Mrs. John R. Graham, parents of Mrs. Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, who recently moved here from Fairview; Heber Graham, recently re-cently of Pocatello, Idaho, now with the navy air corps, and Ross Graham of Provo, and members of their immediate family. A delicious dinner was served early in the evening and later cards and social conversation were enjoyed. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Velt Hancock, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Palfreyman, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Palfreyman, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Will Palfreyman, Pal-freyman, and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Her-bert Taylor. A NO-HOSTESS PARTY WAS HELD THURSDAY by members of the Fidelity club at Valley Tavern. Following a tasty luncheon, .bridge was played with prizes for the games won by Mrs. Floss Cates, Mrs. Rose Roy-lance Roy-lance and Mrs. Olive Miller. Others present included Mrs. Fay Cranmer, Mrs. Flora Maiben, Mrs. Mary Clegg, Mrs. Marjorie Davis, and Mrs. Marge Frandsen, the latter lat-ter being a guest. THE JUNIOR LEGION AUX. WILL MEET ON MONDAY November 30, at the home of Mrs. Inez Chader, instead of on Decern ber 8, as was previously scheduled. The meeting will feature the installation in-stallation of new officers and the initiation of new members, and all members and those eligible are urged to attend. ALPHA BETA CLUB WILL MEET FRIDAY at 3 p. m., with Mrs. Milton Harrison, Har-rison, and Mrs. Mae Huntington will review the book, "Keys of the Kingdom." All members are urged to be present. |
