Show By Clara G. 'Boyer Sent to Cyrus E. Dallim at Boston, Mass., on the occasion of his birthday Saturday, by the Hafen-Dallin club of this city. Mr. Dallin recognized the greetings with a return telegram. s 'Tis a pleasure to remember s And pay homage on this day To one beloved in Springville Though you now are far away. We are proud that once you lived here, In this quiet little town, And we honor and revere you For bringing it renown. We love you for your kindness, So befitting to your station; Many hearts have been inspired By your words of inspiration. We recall your talk on "Culture," And how surprised we were When you didn't even mention Nor to "Art" did not refer. But you told of one man's kindness, How he saw another's needs, Helped him back to health and interest By his little kindly deeds. Once you said our schools of learning Should train the heart as well as hand, Teach our children to be thoughtful j And true worth to understand. These little words once spoken j Have revealed your inmost heart, And your great and kindly nature Is reflected in your art. Thus it is with all great artists Something of the inner soul Is imparted with a message, Like the writing on a scroll. 1 We, the club of Hafen-Dallin, - Send you greetings on this day May your days on earth be many, Peace be with you. all the way. |
