The Alpha Beta Club, organized forty years ago, celebrated their anniversary at a program and social so-cial last Friday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. G. Ray Hales. A beautiful birthday cake and candles centered the large table from which a buffet lunch was served, and a large centerpiece of flowers in blue, gold and pink held the place of interest on the buffet. One hundred per cent of the club membership was present, and a picture of the group was taken to be kept as a remembrance. An unusual and most interesting interest-ing program entitled "Club Memories" Mem-ories" was resented by three members, Mrs. Sadie Packard, Mrs. Vinn Boyer, and Mrs. Zina Condie. Mrs. Packard introduced the program, showing photographs of several of the first presidents of the club and telling of its organization or-ganization in 1912. She became a member in' 1914. Mrs. Boyer and Mrs. Condie read some of the early minutes and outlined the activities of the club in the 'early years, the parties and projects, with tributes being paid to many of the women who were active during those years. Two songs of the time were sung by the Mendenhall sisters, whose mother was a charter member. They were Mrs. Odessa Childs, Mrs. Elmina Madsen and Mrs. Alberta Al-berta Hoover. They sang "Alice Blue Gown" and "I Cannot Sing The Old Songs." They were accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Bess Mendenhall. Mrs. Lela Packard also sang two selections from 1912, "China Town, Mv China Town" and "That Old Girl of Mine,"" accompanied by Mrs. Mary Witney. Mrs. Packard concluded the program with a poem and a tribute trib-ute to the good times of the past. Members present besides those taking part on the program were, Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson, Mrs. W. G. Biesinger, Mrs. W. W. Brock-bank, Brock-bank, Mrs. Myron D. Childs, Mrs. W. W. Clyde, Mrs. Earl Condie, Mrs. E V. Crandall, Mrs. A. Le- |
