Show RELIEF SOCIETY ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATE Tho 8.1rd nnniverwiry of the organization or-ganization of tile IU'liof society was celebrated in a joint roKriim by all tbe wards of the Kololi stake, under the direction of the stake board at tile Springville .Second ward chapel .Tuesday afternoon, March 17, with Slake President Hannah B. Mendenhull in charge. The outstanding number on the program was a pageant under the direction of Mrs. M. E. Crandall. Jr., representing the organization of the first Relief society. Woman, represented by Mrs. Hazel Robert-sou; Robert-sou; Kaitb, Hope and Charity, by Mrs. Jessie Dalton, Mrs. Zina Con-die Con-die and Mrs. Jennie Pierce; Organization, Organ-ization, Mrs. C. (). Cbiudin ; Joseph Smith, the Prophet, by Oliver Dalton Dal-ton : Willard Richard by T. R. Greener; John Taylor by W. K. Johnson : Father Time by Cornell Jessie; Emma Smith by Mrs. Lillian Huntington ; Eliza R. Snow by Mrs. Ada Jessie; Emeline R. Wells by Mrs. John R. Anderson ; Bath-sbeba Bath-sbeba Smith by Mrs. G. W. Men-denhall; Men-denhall; Zina D. Young by Anna Mendenhall, and Mrs. Clarissa W. Williams by Mrs. Prudence Cher-rington. Cher-rington. Solos in the pageant were: vocal, by Mrs. Clara Crandall; violin, by Mrs. Eva Wainwright Ramsey, and cello, by Molvin Done. The pageant was followed by stunts from the five wards of Springville and Mapleton, as follows: fol-lows: Firstward, sewing club for Hottentotts; Second ward, Irish dance by Miss Hazel Anderson; Third ward, an old-fashioned pri- mary school; Fourth ward, Irish dance by Mrs. Eiiza Thorn and Mrs. Mary J. Finley ; Mapleton, demonstration in dentistry. The opening chorus was by the Relief society choir. Invocation was offered by E. M. Snow of the Koloh stake presidency, after which a speech of welcome was given by Mrs. Hannah B: Mendenhall, followed fol-lowed by a talk by President J. F. Bringhurst. At the close of. the program refreshments re-freshments were , served to more than 400. It was the unanimous decision of all present that the program should be'given in the opera house Friday night, March 20, for the general public, and a small charge of admission ad-mission be made. |
