David E., Robertson, City Recorder, bas been selected by the County Council of Defence as the Chairman it thd War History Committee of the Spanish Fork District, Which Includes ialem, Benjamin, Lake Shore, Pal fcyra, Ltdand and 8panish Fork City. It wil be the duty of the committee which Mr. Robertson is Chairman, jd (ether complete Information as ivery man who has served in the irmy, Navy, Marine Corps, Student's trmy Training Corps, or any other Mpch of the service. think filing cards have been sent )iR by the State Council of Defense yi which to keep the record of each These cards, when filled, , kdlvidual. Necessity For The Work common experience of all ates who are compiling this record Jiat an accurate list of persons in 3 die service cannot be secured from 'die recruiting office and the local j: iraft board. It is therefore necess-- j yy that local historians be appoint-id to secure a complete list of names g jp1 each community. H While the Government has a eom-jJlete record of all men who have jerved during the war Just ended, the ates, Counties and cities have none, d has been the case many times in e past, w hen it has been desired to tend benefits to the families of pldiers and sailors or the men no complete and accurate record of service is in existence. For t$ls. as well as other reasons, it has been decided now to profit by the mistakes of the past and get the in formation in record form while it is available. H r- them-flve- s, Representatives of .the Springvllle Sugar Factory have been in Spanish Fork during the past week soliciting contracts for beets for next year and we understand tha a few of our farmers are signing with them. While we believe that the company doing business in Springvllle is a reliable concern and worthy of support, we must remember that the o Sugar Company has built one of the biggest factories in the world in Spanish Fork and are employing Spanish Fork men as far as possible to operate it. They are spending th?lr money in Spanish Fork, they are paying as good n price for beets as any other companv and unless they can get beets enough to make the operation of the bl plant profitable, they will have to tear it down and move it away. Think seriously before signing a beei contract with any outside company. All things being equal, Spanish Fork should have first consideration witl Spanish Forkers; Utah-Idah- Dr. , A. G.
