The students learned about countries and winter sports. Lisa Bird's class held their own Winter Olympics. Students got to make up a country, name it and make a flag for it. The countries included: Animal Land, Heart Land, Earthquake Land, Zooie Land and Holden Land. The students then participated in their own games. Canyon Courtesy photos SEUSS ON THE LOOSE: Canyon Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss Day with Dads and Donuts March 2, 2010. Students could dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character and read and have a donut with their dad. Later in the day there was a school-wide read-a-thon in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Courtesy photo TOUR: The Maple Mountain High School EllevSs will present a "Pre-Tour Show" on Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in the MMHS auditorium. Admission cost is $2. The Elleves will leave for their tour on Thursday, March 18, 2010. Performances will be at Universal Studios Orlando and Disney World. The Ellev§s are under the direction of Molly M. Brenchley and Marci Hite. Hansen Heroes named at Brockbank School Brockbank is happy to announce their Hansen Heroes for the month of February. From first-grade is Ashlyn Herbst from Mrs. Janna Runolfson's class. Mrs. Runolfson said, "Ashlyn always follows directions and is a good example to the class. She is a friend to everyone and is a joy to teach." Jenna Hansen is from Mr. Nathan Wright's second-grade class. Mr. Wright said, "Jenna is a very smart girl. She loves to come to school and loves to learn. Jenna is a good friend to everyone in our class and is really fun to be around." From Mrs. Carolyn Creer's third-grade class is Lee Ann Ellis. Mrs. Creer said, "LeeAnn is kind and sweet to everyone in her class. She is a hard worker and always does her best. LeeAnn is a joy to teach." Fourth-grade Hansen Hero is Daniel Jones from Mr. Terry Oyler's class. Mr. Oyler said, "Daniel is a fantastic student who always loves a challenge. He is always willing to help others and never complains. He is a wonderful friend to everyone and I am so glad he is in my class." From Mrs. Alexandra Dedrickson's fifth-grade class is Austin Scheetz. Mrs. Dedrickson said, "Austin is a wonderful student. He is a great friend to everyone and I am happy to have him in my class." Elise Wilson is the sixthgrade Hansen Hero. Elise is in Mr. Ryan Murray's class. Mr. Murray said, "Elise is always so helpful and looks for extra ways to help around the classroom. On several occasions she has stayed a few minutes after school to pick up paper off the floor or help organize things. Elise is a great student and is extremely respectful." Kenneth Jensen honored PRESIDENTIAL: Fifth-grade students at Canyon Elementary got to research past presidents of the United States. Each class had a "Meet the Presidents" program for parents where the students got to present an informative speech about the president they researched. Students also could dress up as their president. Pictured, left to right, are Allison Binks (Rutherford B. Kenneth Scott Jensen from Maple Mountain High School learned good grades pay off when he won the Spanish Fork-area drawing for a $100 scholarship savings account from Zions Bank's Pays for A's program. Jensen received the surprise news about the scholarship dur- ing the morning school announcements from Zions Bank's Spanish Fork branch manager Kathy Brandon and assistant manager Ed Christianson, along with Principal Penrod on March 3. "We at Zions Bank are thrilled to offer cash rewards to teens with A's. It's a great way for us to recognize students like Kenneth who excel in their studies," said Brandon, manager of Zions Bank's Spanish Fork office. "As a community bank, Zions is proud to partner with teachers and parents in supporting teens who do their very best in school." |
