The 3rd grade students wrote stories and poetry, created art projects and sang songs about their grandparents. Many parents and grandparents attended and enjoyed the talents shared by the 3rd grade students. Brockbank Courtesy photos D.A.R.E.: Brockbank fifth-grade students recently completed their D.A.R.E. program taught by Officer Bryan DeWitt. The students learned several lessons about drugs and ways to avoid the many influences in their lives that might lead them down dangerous paths. One of the fun activities fifth-graders got to do was to see Officer DeWitt's patrol car and see all the equipment that he uses to do his job. He showed them how some of it worked and how he uses it. Students have really learned a lot this year and are looking forward to graduating from D.A.R.E. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the school. Pictured is Mrs. Cynthia Loreen and her fifth-grade class with Officer Bryan DeWitt by his patrol car. BIG RED DOG: Nov. 17-20, the students of Mt. Loafer Elementary participated in a PTA sponsored book fair. Students enjoyed fun events throughout the week. Parents were invited to the lunch and look, and parents and pastries. Students also enjoyed a visit from Clifford. Each teacher received $20 worth of books donated to their classrooms. FOOD DRIVE: Brockbank's student council sponsored their annual food drive. To help get the students motivated, there was a contest where whichever class brought in the most cans, the teacher of that class would get a pie in the face. Tara Farr's kindergarten classes brought in the most food, with Terry Oyler's class a close second, so on Nov. 24, 2009, Mrs. Farr and Mr. Oyler both got pie in their face. Brockbank donated 1,196 pounds (just short of a ton) of food to the Utah County Food Bank. Pictured are student council members, Flor Armenta, Gunner Gammill, Stider Knotts and Tanner Stone. Not pictured are Kourtney Beus, Sally Hansen and Ashton Cluff. Rees Courtesy photo UTAH HISTORY: As part of Mt. Loafer Elementary School's Utah history unit, the 4th grade students participated in a county fair on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. Students researched counties to discover mining, population, interesting places to visit, what is raised there and other interesting facts. Students created displays of the counties and exhibited their displays at the fair for parents and students to enjoy. WORD PERFECT: The 3rd graders at Rees Elementary School in Spanish Fork received dictionaries from the Rotary Club and Mountain *merica. The kids looked excited when they received the new dictionaries. The kids played a game with the dictionaries.
