Autobody takes out dents at UVU Josie Osborn SFHS Spanish Fork High School's Auto Body classes just recently visited Utah Valley University. There, the students were able to get a better understanding of what exactly the school itself has to offer within their Auto Body and Mechanics courses and majors. While at the university, the high school students also had the opportunity to split up into groups and observed those classes in progress. Students were able to view different procedures and get more of a hands-on experience in order to enable them to make a more informed decision if Utah Valley University would be a school of their future interest. Students said that the experience definitely helped them make a decision on Courtesy photo READY TO ROLL: Pictured left to right: Ryan Brown, Kile Cassingham, Taylor Edwards, Tait Johnson, and Rylee Seamons what school they would like to attend. Also after visit- ing the college, many of the students were able to see all that UVU would be capable of offering them. Close-Up Club plans for Washington D.C. The Close-Up is a national club that teaches students their obligation as a citizen. Students have the chance to travel our nation's capital and experience first hand the nation's political process and how it runs. An activity that the Close-Up Club participates in is helping people register to vote in the up coming elections at the last home football game. This November some of the Close-Up Club members will be attending a Washington, D.C. convention. This will be during the 2008 presidential election and a lifetime opportunity that students will never forget. Melissa Hartley, one of the clubs advisors along with Wendi Nelson, said, "We have a great group of Spanish Fork High School students going with us this Courtesy photo GOOD CITIZENS: Pictured, left to, right, are Cameron Bardsley, Greg Taylor, and Carlos Garcia. year to the Close-Up conference in D.C. They are excited to travel to our nation's capital and meet with other students from across the country." The Close-Up Club is a great opportunity for youth to understand our government a little better.
