Senior Tyler Hanks has played near flawless baseball so far this year, and this game was no different. The hard-throwing senior had good control of his pitches which allowed the offense to break out. The Dons threatened in the first when leadoff man Damon Ward hit a double to the gap. Ward attempted to score on a Brock Duke single, but a great throw from the Red Devil right fielder caught Ward at the plate. Danielle Jones STAFF WRITER On March 18, 2008, the Spanish Fork and Payson soccer teams faced off in a classic rivalry match-up that ended in a tie 1-1. "We played really well as a team. We had a lot of good plays, but we just couldn't quite get the last goal we '. needed to win," said player Greg Taylor. Payson struck first with a goal that soared into the top corner. Intensity grew as each team fought to score, but going into half time the score remained 1-0 for Payson. In the second half each team played with great passion. At last, Spanish Fork was able to tie the game with a goal on a free kick just outside the penalty box by Jose Olivarez. A short time after Spanish Fork scored an accident occurred. Spanish Fork defender Tanner Tagg was going up for a header when he was clipped by a Payson Girls Lacrosse All junior high girls are invited to come play lacrosse. Diamond Fork Jr. High School girls lacrosse team spring league is starting soon. It includes practices and games with other schools such as American Fork and Oak Canyon. They came away from Payson with a tie, and narrowly lost to Springville, 1-0.
