This program emphasizes education by providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding college-bound girls who are in their junior year of high school. This program also encourages personal development through its "Be Your Best Self" Outreach Program. Current title holders, Jennifer Stone and Elise Williams, spoke to the girls and mothers who attended the meeting. Girls who are interested in participating in this coming year's program need to contact Trudy McGuire, 794-1830, or Carol Tanner, 798-0816, by Nov. 26. Gordon honored at MVH Beth Francis Gordon has been chosen as Volunteer of the Quarter for October 2007 by the Mountain View Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. It is only fitting that we should honor Beth, who has served as a faithful Volunteer for over 24 years. Beth has always been a mail messenger within the hospital, a job she enjoys because she gets to know and visit with the employees. Beth was born on Dec. 30, 1927 in Lake Shore. She was the 12th child born to Joseph Archibald Francis and LaVina Ursula Jones Francis. Tragically, her mother died during childbirth. With 11 other children at home and the responsibilities of the farm, her father was unable to care for her as a newborn, so Beth was sent to live with David and Elizabeth Dimmick. They lovingly raised her like their own child. After graduating from Spanish Fork High School, Beth attended BYU. During Thanksgiving break, she returned home to Lake Shore for a visit and while attending a local dance, met the love of her life. Keith Gordon had just returned from serving in the navy. They had a whirlwind romance and married six months later. They have been married for 60 wonderful years. They have been blessed with six children: five boys and one girl (Randy, Craig, Brad, Sheldon, Ronald and Elizabeth). They also have 29 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. Beth has always been involved in her church and community. She has served in the 4-H, PTA, and numerous church callings. She is currently the oldest member of the Camp Lake Shore DUP, having been a member for 60 years. Beth and Keith served an LDS Mission in New Zealand and have been temple workers for the past 12 years. Beth has a beautiful singing voice and loves to quilt, garden, do embroidery and travel with her children. • New Home • I00'/f Brick • I.7I7 si], feet main door and unfinished basement • 3 Bedroom. 2 Bath, extra large two car garage • Spacious mud room and large laundry room • Great room with Alpine Gas Fireplace • Hardwood, tile and carpet flooring 826 East 240 South • Salem • Knotty Alder cabinets in great room, For more information call Vic at kitchen, mud rpom and laundry room 798-7527 or 404-7883. Their goals include building character among the student body, developing leadership, providing service and creating a desire for scholarships. They help out with the DARE program, and the Harvest Moon Hurrah. They will be providing Thanksgiving dinners for about 30 needy families and will be holding a Sub for Santa in December. Another club honored was Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). President is Spencer Fausett with Rita James as. faculty advisor. They are planning a special service project with the senior center to teach senior citizens how to use the computer and the internet. The Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) was also honored. Brady Olsen is President and Mindy Johnson is the advisor. They have four major service projects planned, including a shoe drive for children in Haiti and Africa and through the "Feed the Children" program. . Also honored was the FFA. President is Shyanne Thomas, with Kasee Smith as advisor. The FFA is an agricultural-based club that focuses on leadership. They are sending 1,000 care packages to soldiers in Iraq and are involved in "Food for America" programs in the elementary schools. They will also have a Christmas Angel program to help needy families at Christmas time.
