"It was definitely a culture shock for me. It was a really different experience," said Frandsen. Out of the 48 members, most of them probably felt the same way. The group was given a lot of autonomy to go sightseeing on their own while they weren't performing. 'They said we could wake up and go with the group or not. ... We had no curfew, just as long as we made all the concerts. They put their trust in us," said Frandsen. Although she had lots of fun, made new friends, and saw a lot of new things, Frandsen said she did get home sick. Twenty-three days away from home can do that to you. "It was cool and way fun to go, but hard. It's not all just fun. I got way home sick." said Frandsen. By the end she was happy to come home, but she also made a lot of good friends on the trip. "I made so many good friends there. We still keep in touch," she said. Overall it was a good experience and Frandsen will continue pursuing her talent in violin. The Spanish Fork High School senior may go on to minor, or even major, in music. "I don't know yet, but I love music ... [The violin] is something that's been really good and steady throughout my life," she said. Frandsen has played in the Spanish Fork High School's Holiday Dinner, has performed in the Jr. Miss pageant, and does many concerts with an orchestra group in Salt Lake called YACP, directed by Jack Ashton. She has taken private lesson for over four years and has always been in all the schools' orchestras. Frandsen also loves to tumble and sing, and will participate in the Ambassadors Show Choir for her second year. Robert Fleming has been appointed by the Nebo Board of Education as Assistant Principal of Payson Junior High forNebo School District. He will fill the vacancy left by Troy Peterson. Fleming has worked for Nebo School District for 12 years. He spent ten years at Payson Junior High where he taught history, geography, and physical education. He has also been an administrative assistant and coached basketball, tennis, and track. When receiving the new assignment, Fleming stated, "I believe that all children can learn. It is up to us as educators to create the environment and learning opportunities for students to assist them in their education. I love the junior high students and am excited to continue to work with them. Thanks to Clark Clayson and Troy Peterson for working with me and encouraging me toward school administration." One of Fleming's colleagues wrote, "Robert is very professional, always handling . situations with integrity and respect. He works Robert Fleming well with students and seeks to understand where they are coming from before deciding how to handle the situation. He is vision oriented, knowing that a school's success lies within building a positive academic and social culture. One that is nurturing, equitable, collaborative, and dedicated to excellence." Fleming enjoys cooking, reading, gardening, riding bikes, hiking, camping and spending time with family outdoors. He and his wife Lina have three children and live in Salem. Road work on US 6 July 15-31, 2007 U.S. Highway 6, from Powerhouse Road in Spanish Fork to approximately 3 miles eastward, will be restricted to one lane between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday nights, for paving operations. Post Office announces new supervisor Steve Hardman EDITOR SpanishForkPostmasterLxsLee Adamson officially announced the promotion of Casey Christensen to Customer Service Supervisor. "This promotion is based on her merits," said Adamson. "She has been serving in this position for six months and during that time she has proven to be an efficient manager and excellent employee." Christensen has been employed by the Post Office for over 11 years. She started at East Bay in Provo, and worked as a carrier in Spanish Fork for eight years in "all the routes." "Overall, this is a great place to work," said Christensen. "I enjoy both the customers and fellow employees." Along with her husband, who is also named Casey, she coaches an accelerated softball team. While she enjoys most sports, her true love is NASCAR racing, and her obsession has taken her across the country to watch her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., #8.
