Show -N E W S- Covering what matters most Spanish Fork East Meadows holds Valentine's contest Canyon r w V w p WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2007 • B7 The students at East Meadows Elementary participated in a Valentine Box decorating contest. Each grade was assigned a theme that pertained to their core curriculum. Kindergarten t had "Nursery Rhymes" featuring creative boxes shaped like Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory • Dock, Jack's Candlestick and Little Bo Peep and her sheep. First grade decorated on the theme "I Love to Read" and second grade was "Love Bugs," some complete with chirping bugs. Third grade decorated YOUNG SCIENTISTS: The following students from Canyon Elementary are winners from the Nebo District Science Fair and they will all go on to the next level. FouYth grade had a train of covered wagons and a log cabin or two for the theme "Going West". Fifth grade is studying the states and their boxes ranged from patriotic symbols to fun facts they had learned about their state. The boxes were put on display for the students and parents to enjoy. We had five winners from each grade level who received a $5 gift card to Wal-Mart. It was a fun experience and a tradition we hope to continue. Courtesy photo Mt. Loafer >. 1 , TOP NOTCH: These are our Baadsgaard Buddies from Mt. Loafer for the month of January. They have worked hard to cooperate with others, accept responsibility for their actions, be accurate in their work and have helped to keep their classrooms clean. We appreciate these great students in our school! They are: Trey Stephens, Kenzie Wilkinson, Becca Quass, Brooklyn Holman, Alyssa Jorgensen, Sidnee Norman, Lauren Wilcox, Carly Adamson, Elise Riley, Nicolas Stringfellow, Mykenna Holman, Jacey Rees, Kaitlin Adams, Jessica Losser, Madison Lundwall, Shania Johnson, Lauren Southwick and Walker Van Tassell. Loafer Elementary presented fabulous displays showing the research and work they did on science projects. Some of the students studied reaction time with cell phones, how music affects the brain and created lava lamps, just to name a few. Good work Mt. Loafer fifth graders. SPELLING CHAMP: Todd Harrison, representing American Fork Bank, awards Alyson Jardine a first place trophy for winning the third grade spelling bee at Mt. Loafer Elementary.
