ALA to present 'Blast' "The Blast: A Fusion of Song and Dance - Celebrating Broadway's Best Show Tunes," will be March 12-14 and 16. Each performance will start at 7 p.m. and will be held in the ALA Junior High Auditorium. We are offering both reserved and general seating. General seating for side sections is $5 presale and $6 at the door. Reserved seating for center section (Friday, Saturday and Monday only) is $7 presale and $8 at the door. Thursday, March 12 is family/student night. Families are admitted for $25/ family and students can get in for $4 with ID. ALA's address is 898 West 1100 South, Spanish Fork. (801) 794-2226. It will be held in the Jr. High Auditorium. All ticket purchases must be made in the choir room between 8-4 on weekdays or you may contact an ALA choir student to purchase tickets. The show is directed by Rick Lunt and will feature Evolution - the High School Show Choir, InPuIse - the Junior High Show Choir, the Elementary Show Choir, both the Junior and Senior High Concert Choirs, and Encore. Other groups participating are the Dance Company, directed by Lisa Stoddard, the Ball Room Team, directed by Rick Robinson, and, the Musical Theater class directed by Elaine Hansen. Venna Barrowes Ferguson was the choreographer and has been in several show choirs and musical theater groups. While attending BYU, she participated in the International Folk Dance Team and The Young Ambassadors. The ALA Choirs have been extremely impressed by her work. She has been a great asset to the Blast. Each group has progressed leaps and bounds this semester as we have learned all of the songs that are blocked, choreographed and costumed. Some of the songs we are preparing are from shows such as "Tarzan," "The Little Mermaid," "The Sound of Music," "Footloose" and-"You're a Good Man Charlie Brown." We are singing selections from some of the latest hit musicals on the Broadway stage, such as "The Young Frankenstein," "Curtains," "The Wedding Singer" and "Dreaming Wide Awake." The show will involve all the lights and sounds of the Broadway theater while showcasing some of ALA's talented students. If you love to be entertained, this will be a show you will not want to miss. Don't wait to get your tickets as many have already been sold. As many past Blast attendees have said, "The Blast is my favorite concert." Having a live band, lighting, a great tech crew, all of the choirs, Musical Theater and Ball Room classes involved, this concert is sure to be a hit for all newcomers and all ages alike. We are extremely excited for ALA's first ever Blast and hope you to see you there. Nebo technicians certify as CNAs Bonnie Hardy OAKRIDGE SCHOOL Eight technicians completed more than 80 hours of instruction under the direction of Special Education Nurse, Bonnie Hardy, RN assigned to Oakridge School. The technicians demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: CPR and First Aid, illness assessment, infection prevention and control, communication skills, confidentiality and ethics, body mechanics, safety, nutrition along with feeding techniques and caring for handicapped individuals. The classroom teachers will be better equipped to meet the health care needs of students in Nebo School District with the training these technicians will use in the classroom. They work under the direction of the school nurses to meet the health care needs of Nebo School District students. Hayden Johnson is a senior at Spanish Fork High School and is currently participating in the internship program. He interns for Payson Physical Therapy and is supervised by Darren Everett. "It's fun to know all the different types of therapy given to the patients," Hayden said. . His favorite thing is that he gets to help out with the Hayden Johnson patients. Hayden wants to attend University of Utah in the fall to pursue a degree in physical therapy. |
