This meeting was meant to prepare the students and adults who want to go into the special education field with emphasis on the kindergarten and preschool ages of children. A local teacher, Dixie Spresser, came to talk to the students about the program and her participation in it. She explained to them what her duties are every day as a special education teacher and how to handle certain situations with the students. Then Ms. Spresser explained the differences between being a high school teacher and being a special education .1 teacher and what makes special education teachers so unique. She taught how their daily routines may be different from those of other teachers .and what to expect by going into that field of service. She also mentioned how greatly in need of special education teachers the'state of Utah is and also around the nation. It takes an amazing person to be able to cope with the stress of such a job because patience is constantly needed and there is no time to ever lose your temper. Special education teachers are wonderful people and deserve to be recognized. Windows in the Workplace helps to do just that by emphasizing how important these people are and how they help to change the lives of those in need along with getting the support of those who may want to become special education teachers themselves in the future. |
