It will be a part of my heart and memory forever. I have learned so much from my students and my fellow educators. Retirement will be great, but there will always be a little part of me that will be an educator forever." Clark Clayson Clark Clayson, principal at Payson Junior, is retiring from Nebo School District after 40 years of service. 6ver the span of 40 years, and in addition to the obvious positions as teacher, counselor, assistant principal, acting principal and principal, all at Payson Junior High, Mr. Clark has worked as lunch worker, custodian, maintenance worker, plumber, painter and bus driver for Nebo School District. He was also a student at Payson Junior from 1954-1957 and did his student teaching at Payson Junior high in 1966. Mr. Clayson said, 'The school was made for the students, not the students for the school. Everything we do in education must be for the benefit of the students. That's why we're here. There have been many who have been a wonderful influence, but the person who has made more of a difference in my career than anyone else is my wife, Ruth. She told me, 'Stay with education. Whatever you make, I can budget.' In the early years, that's what kept me going. It has been a wonderful experience. I will miss the associations 'with all the great people with whom I have worked." Clark has also been involved on the Payson City Library Board, Nebo Credit Union Credit Committee, was a bishop and did various civic and church assignments.Clark is married to Ruth. They reside in Payson and have six children and 23 grandchildren. Carol Wood DeGraw Carol Wood DeGraw, first-grade teacher at Salem Elementary, is retiring from Nebo School District after 24 years of service. Mrs. DeGraw taught first grade for four years at Santaquin Elementary, third grade for four years at Salem Elementary, interned for ten years at Wilson Elementary, taught first grade for six years at Salem Elementary and taught two years outside the district. Mrs. DeGraw said, "High expectations promote positive self-esteem and self-motivation. To see the growth in students is so rewarding as a teacher. I will definitely miss the students and the interaction with faculty and staff at Salem Elementary and the life-long friends I have made in the teaching profession." Carol is married to Terry. They reside in Salem and have four children. to help students learn to love learning. Quality instruction and a caring environrrient empower students to achieve success." David enjoys camping with family, reading, watching sports and music. He is involved in church work, community theater music and coaching softball with his wife. David is married to Coleen. Dennis Lundgreen Dennis Lundgreen, math and keyboarding teacher at Springville Middle, is retiring from Nebo School District after 34 years of service.
