Nachelle Stewart and Becca Rowley were selected as part of a Utah All Star track team that participated in the prestigious Great Southwest Classic track and field meet in Albuquerque. NM June 1-2. The top athletes in the state of Utah are invited to participate against the best athletes from New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. For the lirst time in the history of the 33-year-old meet, the Utah group came away with the team title, beating the second place team, Texas, by over 30 points. Natalie and Nachelle were part of two relay teams that set meet records. As part of • the 4x800 meter relay team. Nachelle helped the Utah girls to a meet record time of 8:55. The only time a team has ever gone under the 9:00 mark. Nachelle participated on that relay with girls from Lone Peak, Ogden and Judge Memorial high schools. Later in the evening, Natalie and Nachelle ran the 4x400 meter relay with athletes from Alta and Ogden high schools. This relay team also placed first, breaking the meet record by two seconds with a time of 3:41.20. Between these relays Natalie ran in the 400 meter dash, placing second to Erica Alexander from Texas. A mere three-hundredths of a second separated these Uta two runners. Natalie's time of 53.77 seconds was the third-fastest time ever in the history of that meet. Earlier in the day Natalie anchored the girls 4x100m relay to a fourth place finish.
