Thursday night the T-Birds pounded the Lady Spartans 188.1-180.75. Julie Aguirre was the top all-arounder in the meet with Utah State by scoring a 38.20, while Jodi McKay sooted a 38.15 which earned her a tie for second place. The T-Birds starred strong on vault with a 46.25. McKay scored a team high of9.40. On bars Cris Becker led with her career best 9.70. On beam the Lady 'Bi.rds scored a o:am best 47 .6. Aguirre and McKay tied for top honors with 9.60s. On floor Kim Francis scored a personal season best of 9.75. Also scoring a personal best on floor was Aguirre with 9.70 Thursday night aganst the Spartans, Eagles srored a personal best in the all-around with a 37.55 to lead SU. On vault, McKay, still recovering from having her tonsils removed January 19, executr:d a 9.50 vault and set her season high in that area. Aguirre srored a 9.40, Mika Goldstein tied her season high with a 9.30. On bars, another personal best was set by Eagles with a 9.50. Lisa Gomez scored a 9.55, Becker a 9.5. On beam, Francis tied her ~ n high with a 9.60, Eagles and Becker followed, each scoring a 9.45. Francis again tied her season best, but this time it was on the floor with a 9.70. 911 S. Thunderbird cagers fall to Matadors Just two weeks ago the SUU men's basketball squad pounded Cal Stare Northridgc 90-65, but on the two-wedc annive.rsary of the 25-point blowout win, CSUN bounced back for a 65-63 win over the Thunderbirds Saturday night at the Matadome. The loss evens the 'Birds' record-at 1().10 and of their remaining seven contests, four will be in the welcomed confines of the Centrum where the 'Birds are ~ l. Going in the Saturday night's game with the Th•.mderbirds, the Matadors had a five-game winning creak and the win preserved the streak. Early in the first half, the Matadors held a slim sixpoint advantage, but the Thunderbin:ls bounced back to take a 35-32 led with two minutes to go. CSUN answered with three points and Southern Utah scored another bucket to take a 37-36 lead at the break. The Matadors held the visiting Thunderbirds scoreless in the first three minutes of the half, while scoring twO baskets to talcc a 40-39 lead. Andy Ward pulled the Thunderbirds to within one at 42-41 before Northridge pulled away to a 46-41 advantage with 15:58 left in the contest With the score 53-48, SUU scored seven unanswered points to retake the lead at 55-53. CSUN tied the score at 58-58 with five minutes left Ward buried a three with four and-a-half minutes left for a slim 61 -58 lead. With 21 ticks left CSUN took the lead for good at 65-63 with a three-pointer. SUU couldn't create a good shot in the final seconds as Delmar Johnson's shot was off and none of SUU's attempted tips would fall.
