FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEST: Students can sign up now for the next foreign language test The exam gives credit by exam for those who have been in foreign residency. The exams test students on their fluency in reading and writing. Public relations writing 395, three credit hours, will compliment public relations I and II. It will concentrate on writing kills used in the public relations field. St1ring quarter, advertising strategies will begin. The cour e covers how to plan and prepare an advertising campaign. lt is also three credit hours. Convo speaker addresses human rights, awareness From the streets of Watts to a pulpit in Ogden, Shirley Jones has been a tireless proponent of diversity in American society. Jones speaks on "Human Rights: Pe™Jnal Awareness and Divee3ity in Our Society~ at today's Convocation. It is in the SU Auditorium at 11 a.m. Jones' first teaching assignment began in 1971 at the 95th Street School in Watts. Llving in the community, Jones taught 3rd and 6th grades at the inner city school where 99 percent of the pupils were black. She taught for 16 years in the Los Angeles/Watts/San Pedro area, and in schools where classes said "Good morning," in as many as seven different languages. Her classes included srudents from Samoa, the East Indies, the Philippines, Japan, Italy, Laos and China. From 1978-80, Jones was the coordinator of a $2 million project to assist Los Angeles' integration effort, where she developed, trained and presented workshops o.n personal awareness to teachers of the school district.
