Show ,, !MONDAY, JUNE 14, 1999 UNIVERSITY JOURNAL CAMPUS NEWS PAGE 3 Brinkerhoff to head staff association Wes Brinkerhoff, bursar/cashier at SUU, will serve as president of the university's staff association during the 1999-00 academic year. The new president replaces Eric Tait, a senior accountant in the controller's office, as head of the 336-member association of full- and part-time SUU staff employees. Brinkerhoff was elected president-elect in voting during the spring of 1998; he has served on the staff association board in that capacity since then. In just completed elections, the association chose a new president-elect , secretary, treasurer, and two board members. Together with holdover board members and Tait, as past president, the group will govern the association during the coming year. Bill Moody, building operations coordinator, is the new president elect. New board members are Belinda Rowley, purchasing clerk, and Joyce Messer, building supervisor. Kathy Barrick, admissions and records secretary, is the new Wes Brinkerhoff secretary; and Andrea Masterson, assistant cashier, will serve as the new association treasurer. Brinkerhoff is a native of Glendale, Kane County, and a graduate of SUU. Prior to joining the SUU staff in May of 1995, he spent five years as a department manager for a K-Mart store. "One of my priorities will be to see that issues important to SUU staff members are properly represented to the administration and that valid concerns of staff members are presented to the appropriate people," Brinkerhoff said. The 13th annual Utah Summer Games began with Thursday's Opening Ceremonies and continue through June 22. This year's summer games promise to be filled with action packed excitement as athletes as young as 11 years old will be participation in 34 different sporting events. Depending on the event, individuals can register as late as June 17, although those interested are encouraged to register as early as possible. Her first address 1s titled "Them That Got the Gold Makes the Rules: The World from the Perspective of Powerlessness." Her second presentation is "You Don't Tame the Angry Lion and Leave the Jungle Unchanged: Serving the Challenged and Challenging Student." Registration forms for the conference, which offers either education or continuing education credit, are available through the SUU Conference Services Office, 351 W. Center Cedar City, UT 84720.
