Morrison By LISA DAWN PERRY ENI OR STAFF WRITER "Going once. Going Twice. Sold to the Uttl~ lady in the SUU weatshin!" This phrase, and others like it will be heard March 2 at 7 p .m . at the SUU Block and Bridle Cluh Bachelor and Bachelorettc Auction being held in the tarlight Room in the harwan Smith Center. According to Dan Dail, advi er for the Block and Bridle Club, the auction is being held as a fundraiser for Devin J. Morri ·on . Morri on , a 3-and-a-half-yearold local boy, was recently diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to th Devin). Morri on account set up by Fir t Security Bank in Cedar City, to help the family defray medical costs. Dail said that local businesses have dohated different items to be auctioned. "We have everything from dinner gift certificates to horse bridles," he said. Dail added that the auction wi ll feature a professional auct ioneer, Duke Cox, and a student caller, Morgan Christensen . In conjunction with the commodity auction , members of the Block and Bridle Club will be auctioned off for dates, Dial said. The people to be auctioned were selected by members of the club, he said. "l guess they thought that there are some members of the club that look good in Wranglers,"· Dail added. The bachelor/bachelorette auction is to increase "interest and add spice " to the event, Dail aid. "Sometimes us farm folk are ki.n d of shy. This will be a good way for some of us to get a date ," he said. Dail aid that the auction will have something for everyone . The Block and Bridle Club is a nationwide service club that focu es on promoting support , service , scholar hip and leadership , said Dail. The club received it charter in 1989 and i the 78th chapler established in the country. Dail said that the club is the " single biggest animal-agriculture organ i zation in the country ." Dail added that the service projects sponsored by the club are "too numerous to Ii t ." Dail said that the duh chose the Morrison service project hecause they wanted to do omething for someone with a genuine need . He said that the auction was organized after club members read about Morrison 's tory in the Daily News .
