The season officially began here Monday evening with the traditional lighting of the SUU Christmas Tree between the General C lassroom Building and Auditorium. The mon th of December h olds a fu ll slate of C hristmas activit ies and events for everyone. So while studying for fi nals, students can get in on the Christmas spirit and take a break to participate in these events. SU B 4 SANT A Each year, SUUSA's Service Committee hosts Sub 4 San ta, a Christmas charity drive that collects new gifts fo r needy children in the area. Working with the Cedar City Car e and Share, SUUSA Service Coordinator Jodi Lee has put together the Sub 4 Santa drive on campus. Tables are set up in the living room for students to make donations or adopt a child. By adopting a child, the student chooses a child and agrees to buy that child new toys and a warm outfit. Ages of the ch ildren to be adopted range from newborn to 18 years. Friday's Christmas Formal is also sponsored by the Service Committee, and all proceeds from the dan ce w ill be contributed to th e Sub 4 Santa as well. The cost is $5 per couple and the dance begins at 9 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom. Monday, Dec. 8, will be the Sub 4 Santa Christmas party, where those children adopted will receive their gifts, see Santa, and decorate C hristmas trees. Students can fi nd out the time and place of this event by stopping in the SUUSA offi ces. FOOD SERVICES Today from 11 a.m . to 1:30 p.m., Food Services w ill be providing an all-you-caneat C hristmas lunch buffet in the Sharwan Center South Dining Hall. The cost is $5.95 for all students and faculty members. Santa Claus will be making an appeara nce and handing out candy canes.
