Sc ho lze n, a former professional p layer and 1993 gradua te of SUU, ha s served as th e unive rsity 's h ead baseba ll coach the past four yea rs, guiding t h e tea m t o SUU's four best seaso ns during its NCAA Di vision I era . Prior t o Schn lze n 's arriva l, the T hunde rbirds had n ot won more than s ix ga m es in a seaso n s ince m oving to Divis io n f competition in 199 1, but Scho lzen coa c hed the team to seve n ' JO-, nint: - and eight-w in seaso ns, co m piling an ovc ra 11 re co n.I of 34- 146.
