Accompanying this show, in the small gallery, are woodblock prints by Everett Ruess. The dual exhibition continues through June 30. Bowcutt received his MFA in painting from the University of Utah in 1987. A native of Salt Lake City, he resides in St. George where he devotes his time to painting and drawing. He also owns the Seven Wives Inn. The exhibit title, Principles of Uncertainty, explains Bowcutts feeling toward his work. Principles are rather set ideas, fixed into the way you live, and you live around them, he says. On the other hand, uncertainties are exactly that: uncertain aspects of life. Bowcutts drawings are beautiful examples not only of a ability marvelous technique, but also a discerning eye and clear-cu- t to report our world, Gallery Curator Valerie Kidrick said. The Ruess block prints are on loan from the Utah Arts Council. Ruess explored southern Utah in the 1920s and early 30s and mysteriously disappeared in November 1934. He was last seen in Escalante on his way toward Davis Gulch. His solitary explorations were recorded in his journals and art work, Kidrick said, and he has become somewhat of a mythical figure because of his disappearance at age 20. Visitors are welcome at the SUSC gallery from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Located in room 211 of the Physical Education Building, the fitness center is open Mondays through Fridays from 6 to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and then again from 4 to 7 p.m. It is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two dozen stations are included in the computerized and personally customized program, 12 aerobic stations and 12 weight machines. Individuals spend 40 seconds per machine or station. Workout time, including lags between stations, takes just 24 minutes. With an additional 10 and cool downs, the entire workout runs a minutes for warm-u- p little over 30 minutes. The center is open to all ages under the direction of SUSC gymnastics coach Brent Hardcastle. More than 1,000 people have participated in the program since its inception last fall. Registration can be completed at the SUSC Registrars Office for the physical education class. The registrationtouel fee is $61 for an period. Because the program isnt tied to any particular quarter or to any specific daily schedule, participants can pretty much plan their own agenda. They must, however, attend an orientation session before they begin.
