Crews will grate the area west of the Stadium to make-roofor exhibits for the Western Royale. To prevent problems while grating, groundskeepers will bum the weeds. Exhibits placed in that area will show people skills from the Old West such as branding, saddle works, and arrowhead making. Trees and flowers donated by the life science department will also be planted and a retaining wall built at the old museum site. Electricians are putting up lights around the Centrum to illuminate the grounds and cement is being poured for ground lights around the building and parking lot. New sod will be planted on campus and repairs will be done to sprinkler heads and sidewalks. A water truck from the city will be used to clean sidewalk areas around the college. Cedar City employees have put in a lot of time without pay for this project, said Davis. One large goal for the city is to sweep all the streets in Cedar City. The city and the county should get a pat on the back and a congratulations for the work they have been doing," Davis said. A total of six grounds people are taking care of 108 acres, including the main campus, stadium, and the president's home. That breaks down to 1 5.5 acres per man. According to Davis, three students are working for grounds now and six more will be hired as temporary help. |
