Monday thru Saturday Expires April 31, 1986 THIS YEARS NOMINEE FOR Jefferson Collection recreated by Library SUSC is recreating the Jefferson Collection which will be housed in Library Special Collections and available to researchers and scholars, according to Library Director Diana Graff. Thomas Jefferson believed that young men should have a education and, in 1771, compiled a list of authors recommended for the young gentlemans library. These books were included in Jeffersons personal collection which eventually became the core for the Library of Congress. The college is working with Howard Smith of M &. H Smith, rare book dealers in Las d f Vegas, Nev., and has purchased 126 volumes from Smiths personal Jefferson Collection which he compiled according to Jeffersons original young gentlemens book list. All of the books in the collection, and all rare books acquired by the college are purchased through donations. Publication dates for the 126 books range from 1641 to 1824. Among the represented writers are Plutarch, Montesquieu, Chaucer, Dryden, Swift, Locke, Hume, Moliere, Xenophone, Livy, Homer and Cicero. Other volumes will be added to the collection as funds become available. Summer Job Openings Collegiate Group Inc. is looking for some men to work with its sharp, marketing program in California.
