Show Summer Evening Concert Series continues II UU's Summer Evening Concert Series continues with a July 25 Chamber Ensemble, deacrlbed by one music critic 88 "pasak)nate, adventurous, hugely inteligant, and deeply musical." The quartet will present the third perfonnance in SUU's 1993 Summer Evening Concert Series. The program will begin at 7 p.m. In the Randall L Jones Theatre. There will be no charge for admission. Vildarbo will also participate In a special •Dinosaur performance by the Yddalbo National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, D.C. Prognun support is also provided by KREC Radio and El Rey loo Best Westem in Cedar City. Proctor Is considered to be one of the leading Innovators, both In performance and composition, In the world of steel strtng guitar. The fingerstyle guitarist will play both the six- and 12-string guitar during his concert. Many of the numbers will be origtnaJ compositions. They are varied and draw on many traditions including renaissance and baroque music, American and Celtic folk, anctjazz. Days• outreach program for children of all ages Friday at 3 p.m. at the Cedar City Public Library. That program is also free. Dinosaur Days utilizes music to describe different dinosaurs In the presentation of a story. The program will include an introduction to instruments, a question-answer session, and audience participation. On Aug. 1, Chris Proctor, a popular contemporary, finger-style guitarist, will continue the Sunday evening program. Members of Viklarbo are Maria Newman, violin/viola/ Sebastian Toettcher, cello; Jeff Elmassian, clarinet; and Wendy Prober, piano. "Viklarbo performs entertaining and enriching programs nationwide for young people, and the group continually captivates its children's audiences," Marta Bingham, manager of the Summer Evening Concert Series says. "The ensemble also receives high praise from audiences for its adult programs. The group is known for its unique ability to perform in different combinations of instruments, allowing for a diversity of repertoire and a flexibility to their instruments of traditional and contemporary works.
