Show , MON DAY, APRIL 14, 1000 UNIVERSITY JOURNAL CAMPUS NEWS Funds allocated for new program BY RHIANNON BENT SENIOR STAFF WRITER The SUUSA Senate allocated $1 ,923 to purchase equipment such as camping and fly-fishing gear for an outdoor sports program at SUU. Sen. Bruce Louthan (Humanities and Social Sciences) said the senators should use the remaining funds to best serve the students. He said the administration has offered to support the outdoor sports program which has been successful in other places. Louthan added that even though the program is starting out small , it ~n and will improve. The bill passed 15-0-0. In other current business, Bill #039-00, a request for $240 to purchase a snare drum for the music department, passed .. Sen. Tara Nicole Oliver (Performing and Visual Arts) said the drum would add to performances. "You don't want to hear a percussion ensemble without the instruments.· Sen. Steve Nelson (Education) voiced concern that the senate would be funding the music department by allocating money for the drum . The bill passed 12-3-0.
