Star Parker, a conservative social activist who is the founder and president of the Coalition on Urban Renewal and Education (C URE), will speak at the 11 :30 a.m. Convocation in the SUU Auditorium. The general public is invited to attend the free lecture. "The stated goal of CURE, a non-profit research foundation. is to help provide a national dialogue on matters which affect the poor, particularly those living in tragic poverty in larger cities,· Carol Gale, coordinator of the Convocations series, said. "Ms. Parker has first-hand experience with the circumstances with which she is so concerned ," Gale said . Parker was a single welfare mother in Los Angeles before she completed a · bachelor's degree in marketing at Woodbury University.
