Hillock said that he is looking forward to the season and expects the league to be tough. He said he expects the team to play well because of the skills of the team. "I am looking at 10 players we can throw in the mix," said Hillock. The women's team was voted sixth in the preseason coaches poll. and fourth in the preseason media poll. Senior Melissa Hines was named to the preseason All-Conference Second Tearn voted upon by the coaches.. Sophomore Megan Lofthouse was also voted to an All-Conference team. Coach Evans spoke about the men's three returning starters: Jim Faulkner, Tyson Hancock, and Jeff Monaco. Evans said the team needs vocal leadership from players, not just the coaches. He said he believes these three will help lead the team , and the other players will listen . Faulkner recorded the first triple-double in SUU history last year against University of Denver when he scored 10 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out 1O assists. Monaco was named to the Coaches Preseason All-Conference Second Team. According to Evans. Monaco has worked hard during the off-season and gotten a lot stronger. The men are ranked eighth by the coaches and sixth by the media in the preseason polls. "One thing I like most about this team is we have a lot of character," said Evans. Basketball clinic to be · hosted by SU.U coaches Southern Utah University w ill host the Reebok Clinic of Champions to benefit SUU's women's basketball program Saturday, Nov. 6 , at the Centrum Arena on Campus, Fred Williams, head coach of the WNBA's Utah Starzz, w ill highlight the list of instructors for this event. The staff will also include ·suu·s men's head basketball coach Bill Evans and assistant Bob Lowe, SUU women's head coach Joe Hillock and assistant Mindee Larsen and Canyon View High School boy's head coach Steve Hodson . The clinic will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m .. and is open to boy's and girl's coaches of all levels. Cost 1s $50 per coach, $125 per staff (up to three coaches), or $60 on the day of the clinic.
