Show SUU PREVIEW 1993 • PAGE 9 Entertainment Bureau truly entertains at SUU Acclama.tion is an integral facet of SUU's Entertainment Bureau. The SUU Entertairunent Bureau was organized to showcase and develop the differing talents of SUU students. This is accomplished through student participation in major performing groups, or through individual and small group engagements. In the fall of each year auditions are held for several of the major groups within the Bureau. Each group has its own adviser, through whom students are selected. One of the major performing groups is Acclamation, a 12-member show choir that provides musical variety entertainment. Their numbers range from pop and jazz to country. All members are selected by audition in the fall and are then required to enroll in the Entertainment Bureau class. According to DEi Beatty, Acclamation director, former members of the group must also reaudition each year. This year, auditions will be held on September 25, at 10 a.m. in the Entertainment Bureau studio in the basement of the Technology Building. Students wishing to audition must pick up an application packet from Beatty or Laurie Hulet in the Student Activities Office prior to auditions. The packet consists of an application, a contract, a schedule of Acclamation's tours for the year and several short pieces of music that applicants should familiarize themselves with. During the auditions, applicants are judged on a three minute individual performance, as well as a short dance they learn that day. Acclamation performs extensively each year. Last year alone they performed some 70 shows and went on three major tours to places such as northern Utah, southern California-including a performance at Disneyland-Mexico and Las Vegas,Nev. They performed for major conferences and workshops that visited the SUU campus and presented·a formal cl.inner show in February. They also presented shows at county fairs, local high schools and communities throughout Utah and Nevada. The group is excited about the possibility of an international tour this year, which would further validate Acclamation's popularity and importance and additionally motivate its members to continue to grow and develop both musically and in social interaction.
