According to Director of Placement John Cannon, now is the time to be searching for jobs. All departments hold potential jobs, ranging from administration and operations to the Library and Food Services, said Cannon. While students are not guaranteed jobs, the field is wide open and the Placement Office is available for assistance, said Cannon. Part-tim- e job listings are posted on the bulletin board work-stud- Building, 102. Job listings are divided into three categories: Work-studWork-stud- y hourly regular jobs, and is a federal financial assistance program for students. ' Work-stud- y awards are offered to students as part of the students financial aid package. Because the work-stud- y program is more economical and practical for the school, the employment bulletin board contains more work-stud- y opportunities than either of the other two options, said Cannon. The government supplies SUSC with 75 percent of its annual payroll, with the college making up the 25 percent difference. Therefore, SUSC can hire four y, off-campu-s. students rather than one regularly paid y employee. To those who do not qualify for work-stud- y this fact can be a little discouraging, Cannon said, but there are many jobs on campus that are not work-studCannon suggests pursuing the job desired and said that persistant students will be able to find employment. Student workers are paid at minimum wage and will find the school very flexible and willing to work with and around the students schedule. y.
