Group Leader Address Phone Number Names of Group Members Daniel R. Schwarz, literary critic and scholar, will speak on Reading Joseph Conrads Lord Jim Thursday at the SUSC Convocation series. Schwarz is a professor of English at Cornell University and a member of the International Association of University Professors of English. He specializes m the British Novel from Defoe through Joyce, and literary theory. His other fields of interest include. Twentieth Century Poetry, Victorian Poetry, and American and European fiction. Schwarz received his Bachelors degree from Union College, spending his junior year at Edinburgh University, Scotland, and received his Masters and Ph.D. from Brown University. He is currently director of the National Endowment for the Humanities Program for College Teachers. Schwarz has lectured before numerous colleges and university audiences in the U.S. and in 1984 was a guest at Kent University in Canterbury, Time needed (minutes) Please return this form to Mita Leatvitt in the Student Center by May 9, 1986. Reading Conrads Lord Jim has been presented on several occasions, including a program at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The author of several books, including two on Joseph Conrad, and numerous reviews and essays of such writers as Conrad, D H. Lawrence, James Joyce, Thomas, and E M. Forster He is a recipient of numerous scholarships, including the Catlin Prize for Graduate Study He is currently at work on a book tracing the transformation of the English novel from Hardy through Joyce and Woolf.
