Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS TUESDAY FEBRUARY 11, 1992 News Garkanes Richfield office to he relocated By unanimous vote, Garkane Power Associations Board of Directors voted January 28, to relocate the functions currently being performed in the Richfield Office to where the company's three existing District Offices are located in Boa, Hatch, and Kanab, Utah. Thedecision was made during the companys regularly sched uled January meeting of the 4 Board of Directors. Garkane General Manager, Glen P. Willardson, indicated considerable study and analysis over the past few months has taken place with input being solicited from Garkane stafT members and a consultant from the National Rural Electric Cooperative As sociation(NRECA). Page 10 Alvey asked to serve on BLM Board Karen Alvey has been named by Senator Jake Garn as one of the 20 Utahns selected by Secretary of Interior Manuel Lujan to serve as memlers of of Land Bureau the (R-Utah- ) Managements (BLM) district advisory councils in Utah. She will serve as a member of the Cedar City District Advisory Council along with Rodney Adams, Parowan; K. Blair Maxfield, Cedar City; and Cindy Stewart, Panguitch Gam said the purpose of the council is to provide representative citizen counsel and advice to the BLM District Managers regarding the planning and management of the public land resources within each district. It is a pleasure for me to announce and congratulate these talented and qualified Utahns m their new assignments. In a state like Utah where tw thirds of our land is ow ned by the federal government, the operations of the Department of Interior and particularly the BLM are of critical importance. Im confident these citizens will effectively represent the needs of their region and the state as a whole," Gam said. KHS students to interview locals about history Kanab High School American Government students will be interviewing people in the community this week for their Living History" projects. They will be asking questions relating to childhood experiences of people who grew up in the Kanab area. The questions deal with what their home where they grew up was like, school, chores, travel and special events they remember. The American Government classes are working with the Kanab Heritage Council and the Commission for Updating the History of Kane County.
