Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS - Thursday, February 12, 1981 - Page Five Kane Students Reach for the Stars The Astro-Vasponsored by the Hansen Planetarium, the Utah State Board of Education and Kane School District, is visiting the Kanab and Valley Schools this week. This is a "traveling science made possidemonstration ble by funding from the Utah State Board of Education and a gift of equipment from NASA. Tom Clausen, Astro Van teacher, travels throughout Utah bringing space science and basic science demonstrations to schools. The program is designed to be an "outreach" program for schools that cannot conveniently isit the Hansen Planetarium in Salt Lake City. During the science demonstration, various aspects of astronomy, phvsics, and space science are reviewed, i e. Friday and Saturday, Region wrestling was held in North Sevier. We had some real good matches and many of our wrestlers came out with good performances, even though only two of them will get to go to state. Brenan Jackson won 2nd in his category and Darwin Tait won 3rd in his. We are proud of all our wrestlers and we want to congratulate them on their season and wish Brenan and Darwin the best of luck at state in Beaver, tomorrow and Saturday. Our basketball team came up with a big win last Thursday against the North Sevier Wolves. The Wolves beat us earlier in the season but our Cowboys were really fired up, staying ahead by at least 10 points the whole game and at one time we were ahead 25 points. We ended up taking it Everyone remember the game here tonight with the Milford Tigers. The celebrations for our last home game will be held tonight since our Spanish Gub will be in Mexico on the real last home game night. We hope youll all come and participate in the activities. The J.V.s are doing a great job too! They won their game by a good margin over North Sevier, and last week wasn't so bad after all because I forgot that the J.V.'s beat Gunnison up there. The Sophomore Tournament is in Parowan next Friday and Saturday, so if you're driving 81-7- through stop J.V.s play. and Honor Roll watch the Everyone remember the Sweethearts Ball on Saturday, February 21st. It will be lots of fun and there will be a floor show with crowning of the Sweethearts Queens so don't forget. Mrs. Pennys Sr. Government class went to St. George for a career day on Tuesday. They are really getting involved in all of this college stuff and Mrs. Penney does a super good job in keeping up on all the activities going on for Seniors. The Sterling Scholar program is in full swing and everyone involved is rushing around trying to get their portfolios finished in time for the judging. We wish them all luck in their endeavors. Remember, if you're just sitting at home being bored, that Kanab High School has lots of things going on, so come and join the activities.
