Mr. Taylor said that the Com1 mission ruling on the water opens the door for real development at Church Wells townsite. The water will be supplied from pump wells and will ultimately supply a planned 1,000 residences, as well as commercial and related facilities. The planned townsite has been underway for sometime and is intended to serve workers, tourists and permanent residents who are attracted to this new area by Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Mr. Taylor told the S.U.N. that 20 units of a 40 unit trailer court are ready to get underway at once. Robert B. Cameron, resident of Church Wells, will be in charge of construction and bids on a water storage tank and pipe lines would soon be let. Church Wells is on U. S. Highway 89 between Page, Arizona and Kanab, and is about 16 miles from the Glen Canyon Dam. The shore line of Lake Powell will be approximately eight miles east of the townsite. 1 hr V . . . One of the colts died after unsuccessful attempts were made by Mr. Pugh to feed the colt. Statistics show that very rarely does the twin birth occurr among horses and almost as. rare is the existence of one or either of the new born colts. The remaining fillie, the largest of the two shown, is doing fine according to proud owner Mr. Pugh. Sire of the fillies was Un. believeable", out of Bull Lee, and y full brother to Citation. Did you know that among other jarly industries in the building up if Kahe County and Kanab was he silk industry? Brigham Young encouraged at empts to produce silk. In 1855 he lad secured mulberry trees from France for the purpose of feeding silk worms. Kane, County and Vashington County succeeded best n this industry. During the time of the United )rder at Kanab the responsibility or silk culture was entrusted to ladck K.
