In our July 3rd editorial, we Clerk Tietjen questioned proper handling of that office and his refusal to have record; ed, property belonging to taxpayers. His reason for not re cording same is that the Commissioners have never ordered him to do so. Paragraph' (2) of the Utah Duties Code Annotated of the Cdunty Clerk, states: He shall take care of and safely keen or- dispose of according to law, all books, papers and records which may be 2, - filed or deposited in his office. How property can be taken from the tax rolls and no record ever be made of same, leaves room for thought on matters such as this. On this same property th insurance has been paid out of county funds for many years. A thorough investigation of where these premiums are paid would be of interest to ail taxpayers. Commissioner Banks, when we questioned the handling of the county property a year ago, threatened to put us out of business if we didnt shut up. Commissioner Swapp informed us on Monday, July 7th, 1958, that we would never get another cent of business or consideration out of the County if he could prevent it.
