Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Leany of Hurricane spent Sunday afternoon here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lamb. With them were Mrs. Leanys two daughters Mrs. Patsy Leany of Fillmore and Mrs. Marlene Jones of St. George and their children. Patsy'fc two little daughters Dalna and Barbra Jean remained here to visit with their grandparents. Mrs. Fern Morrison and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Myers motored ' to Las Vegas to visit and attend to business Tuesday evening, returning Thursday. Mrs. Madeline Gardner came from Orderville to spend a couple of days here getting ready for a trip north. Her son Grant and wife of Provo came, for her Friday. She will visit with them a while there then go to Morgan to visit her daughter Bessie Francis and family. Mr. and Mrs. Birt Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Tait attended the High Priests temple excursion in St. George Wednesday evening. Students home on Spring vacation from C.S.O.were Glenna Rife, A1 Tait, Cleve Esplin. They returned to their studies Monday. Corrine Stevens was home from her work in Cedar City over the weekend. Relief Society Ward Conference was presented in Sacrament meeting Sunday with Stake Officers Mahala Sorenson, Esplin, Nancy Chamberlain and Nellie Heaton here. County Agent D. Wayne Rose held a meeting on weed control Thursday in the Church house. Professor Louis A. Jensen from the A.C. was with him. Mrs. Fern Morrison, regional supervisor, went to Thursday evening to interview students regarding scholarships. The Elgin Shelmmer family coming from Las Vegas have moved into the Doyle Sorenson home. Mr. Shelmmer drives the water truck to Glen Canyon for Karl Jameson. Mrs. Ethel Plumb, coming from Green Acres, Washington is visiting at the home of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Holyoak. Hamblin of Kanab, who operates a guide service and lodge on the north rim of the Grand Canyon, said this week that he is planning on making a new trail into the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Mr. Hamblin saidthat the new trail would take about 30 days of work to complete, it will take off the South Saddle Mountain. He said that it will lead into the area where Barry Goldwater discovered the large natural bridge in the canyon some time ago, also, Mr. Hamblin said that there were many Indian ruins ect., in that area. to remain in this vicinity. Bishop Wilbur Covington and family went to Las Y'egas Thursday of last week to attend the M Men basketball tournament. Mrs. Edna Lamb accompanied them to visit with her son Mont and family. William Bean and Claude Judd have kept the city truck busy several days loading the refuse that has piled up in the gutters, and sweeping- - and doing away with a lot of extra sand and gravel that has piled up during the winter months.
