The route is 64 miles in proposed ' length. Twenty miles of the road is in Utah, 28 in Arizona and 16 through the Indian Reservation. Mayor Brooksby read a letter that indicated that the road had been designated into? the Arizona State Road Commission secondary system. It has similar classification in the Utah Road system. As a result of the meeting it was felt that efforts should be made to have the two states involved work to have the road designated under the states primary road systems. It was also pointed out that the project could not come under the fiscal program, which has already been completely allocated. The project, must therefore be worked into the budget pro. gram of The commission, although taking no action on the matter, indicated favorable reception to the proposed work and It was suggested by a member of the commission that steps be taken to complete a survey of the proposed route to establish possible engineering problems and feasibility of construction. The route, as an access road to the Glen Canyon Dam would furnish an through highway from 91 to Kanab and into the dam site. The road through Zion National Park, is a toll road and is inadequate, to handle the type of travel that will be necessary to the dam construction, a spokesman stated.
