Petitions for the incorporation, carrying names of 136 property owners were presented to the board by the Fredorila Booster Club officers Arland J. Brooksby, George M. Johnson and R. L. Roper. Fredonias population was 586 according to a census taken recently by the Boosters Club and probably increased slightly now, The board also appointed a temporary town council. Arland J. Brooksby as Mayor and R. L. Roper as clerk with George M. Johnson, Z. Ray Judd and Lenn McKinney as members constitute the ciuncil. An election in May will establish a permanent council. The 136 petitioners represented 100 percent of the eligible property owners as backing the incorporation move. The town is now eligible for part of the State gasoline and sales taxes. Supervisor Joe Tissaw and County Attorney Karl Mangum plan to come to Fredonia later this month to set up the towns books and make everything in order. Fredonia becomes the third Coconino town to become incorporated. Williams and Flagstaff are the others. Km Milton Whiting and Lee Kutch recently made a buslnes trip to Detroit, Michigan. The business was to complete purchase of the Oak Creek Lumber Co. of Flagstaff for nearly a quarter million dolars by the Whiting and Kutch Lumber Co. The purchase was announced Monday. Lee Kutch of Holbrook, of the Whiting Firm, announced purchase of the Oak Creek sawing and planing mill and dry kiln east of Flagstaff from the Currier family of Detroit. Gerald Currier of Flagstaff has been operating the corporation, Kutch said. Kutch said that the mill would be operated by the same personnel and would be expanded. The Oak Creek firm had been doing between 4 million and 5 million board feet of custom lumber finishing annually, getting logs from Whiting, according to Kutch. Other officers in the Whiting firm are Milton Whiting, president; E. Alterations consist of changing the set up of the center counter so that four booths could be added along the west wall.
