Voltaire T Are Yea Wondering About The Bank? Cu. Yds. of Unclassified cant help but won- der how much longer Kanab, and this area, must go without the services of a bank? In our October 18, 1956 issue, we proclaimed in quite large would have banktype, and quite a lengthy story, that Kanab ing services by the first of the year - 1957. of a We, like so many others here, have long felt the need bank to serve this area. Kanab has been patient and easy going for some three years waiting for the First State Bank of Salina to exercise their charter, and all the time staying with them to the extent of about 90 per cent of the banking business in this area. How much longer will this be justified? In the story that we carried October 18, 1956, Mr. II. B.Cran-dal- l assured us in two separate telephone calls that land had been purchased and that building was all set to start. What has happened to these plans? We feel that we should at least be furnished some information to give the public, after running the previous stories. A newspaper is of no value if it cannot vacgive the public and its readers true facts! We look at the ant lot next door, each day, and wonder if it is possible that the necessary building can be done in so short a time. This week the local post office in Kanab are following rules that does no longer allow them to cash checks. Merchants are hard pressed to take care of the several large payrolls here now. Bdsiness geos out of Kanab every day because of not being able to cash large checks.' IIow much longer mast we wait, without at least some dication that we are going to have a hank?
